Pratibha Raghunath Namde, 38, is receiving treatment for psychosis. She recalls excelling in school until ninth grade, before unexplained frustration took over. Once fond of sewing, she now spends long hours staring into the distance, praying for relief, or attempting small chores. Even minor stress unsettles her — memory falters, appetite diminishes and sleep is disrupted.

Her family has spent nearly a lakh on treatment, selling jewellery and exhausting savings, yet they remain caught between exhaustion and concern. They once turned to religious ceremonies and healers, performing rituals and sacrifices, but found no improvement.

Community health workers now intervene with home visits and regular check-ins to prevent treatment lapses, though side effects from medication cause her pain. Moving to Aghai has brought some stability, allowing her to eat and sleep better.

Her story reflects the heavy burden carried by both patients and caregivers, and the critical role of consistent support.

Reporter: Sakshi Salil Chavan
Camera: Dinesh Parab and Gurujeet Devgan
Editor: Madiha Shakeel

Follow us:
Website: https://www.outlookindia.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Outlookindia
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/outlookindia/
X: https://twitter.com/Outlookindia
Whatsapp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaNrF3v0AgWLA6OnJH0R
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@OutlookMagazine
Dailymotion: https://www.dailymotion.com/outlookindia

#WorldMentalHealthDay #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealth #FreedomFromStigma #RightToHappiness #EverydayIPrayForLove #IHaveALotLeftInside #DignityForAll #OutlookMagazine
Testicular cancer is a relatively rare cancer that affects the testicles, primarily occurring in males aged 15 to 35, though it can arise at any age. It often manifests as a painless lump or swelling in one testicle and may be accompanied by a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum. While it can spread quickly if untreated, testicular cancer is highly treatable with excellent cure rates when detected early.

Symptoms
Painless lump or swelling in either testicle

Feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the scrotum

Dull ache in the lower abdomen, groin, or testicle

Sudden swelling in the scrotum

Back pain in some cases

Breast enlargement or tenderness (rare)

Coughing or breathlessness if cancer has spread (rare)

Diagnosis
Diagnosis includes physical examination, ultrasound of the testicles, blood tests for tumor markers (alpha-fetoprotein, beta HCG, lactate dehydrogenase), and imaging (CT or MRI) to determine spread. Confirmation is made via surgical removal of the affected testicle (radical inguinal orchiectomy).

Treatment
Treatment depends on cancer type, stage, patient health, and preferences:

Surgery: Removal of the affected testicle is primary treatment.

Chemotherapy: Used if cancer has spread; common drugs include cisplatin, etoposide

Radiation therapy: Often for seminomas, targets lymph nodes after surgery

Surveillance: Close monitoring post-surgery if cancer is localized

Prognosis is generally excellent, with 95% or higher cure rates, especially with early detection and treatment.

👉 Don’t forget to Like 👍, Share 🤝, and Subscribe 🔔 to Medickpidia for accurate, hopeful cancer education and support!

Hashtags
#TesticularCancer, #TesticleLump, #Orchiectomy, #Chemotherapy, #RadiationTherapy, #CancerTreatment, #CancerAwareness, #EarlyDetection, #TumorMarkers, #AlphaFetoprotein, #BetaHCG, #ScrotalSwelling, #GroinPain, #MaleHealth, #CancerRecovery, #CancerSupport, #Oncology, #CancerScreening, #CancerResearch, #Metastasis, #HealthyLiving, #SelfExam, #CancerSurvivor, #Medickpidia, #Wellness, #HealthEducation, #Prognosis, #CureRates, #Surveillance, #CancerSymptoms, #Medickpidia

CONTACT US - MEDICKPIDIA@GMAIL.COM
Medickpidia: Your trusted source for up-to-date medicine guides, wellness advice, and evidence-based healthcare solutions.
